I'm willing to make some allowances for people alive in past eras. We can
hardly judge
people of the early 1900s by the same yardstick as 2011. Even the 1950s,
while
most Americans should have started to develop a new kind of values system
by then,
you could still cut them some slack. How can we expect people to escape all
cultural conditioning ?

But 1990 ?

Actually I can overlook to some degree the kind of comments in RP's
newsletters but
only IF these simply were expressions of opinion and nothing more. Alas,
the whole idea
was gaining political power. That is a whole nuther ballgame. Then there is
 what surely
seems to be RP's lying, or at a minimum, gross irresponsibility about
comments made in his
name that he had every reason the edit out --he was the publisher , after
all.

Now a number of documents have surfaced that indicate he did, in fact,
approve.
The "Ruthfully" blog --she seems to me to be conscientious and not given
to nonsense--
being just one that is reporting this story.

Finally, apart from ethics considerations : Are Republicans serious about
wanting to defeat BHO ?
On that basis alone, any GOP association with Paul would be suicidal for
the general election.
But there is no talking with Paulistas. Its all True Belief, not much
different than Obamamania
in 2008, just a different political agenda.

That is not good. We need to get past that sort of thing.

In the end, I think there's this current of indignation that flows
through a subsect of the population which believes that the
advancement of one race to the starting line pushes the previously
favored race back. The indignation has to go before we can move from a
racial view of society to an individualist view. As Marcus Aurelius
said, "get rid of the judgement, get rid of the 'I am hurt,' you are
rid of the hurt itself." As has been discussed earlier in the thread,
this is where Ron Paul betrayed his own ideology.
