Perhaps I wasn't asking the right question! Put more bluntly -
My question is: "Does anybody know how to configure Avira (or AVG) to work with the SB Server, please?" I think that this information would be useful to many who have these security systems and want to add an SB Radio or Receiver, as I do, without installing new, unfamiliar, possibly inferior security software to suit. It is unfortunate that installing such devices that are such neat and useful concepts becomes such a highly technical exercise; unless more assistance can be given to the general end-user then the Squeezebox image is going to suffer. As a newcomer to the forums a scan of the problems reported is quite alarming, even if it is mildly reassuring to see that one is not alone. I'll note here also that I too have now experienced the complete loss of Radio streaming output and pre-sets, only for it all to recover when completely re-starting the whole router/network/SBR. There seems to be no clear view on why this should happen, though I suspect that in my case it was something to do with the SB Server shutting down after failing to link with the SBR properly. I am sorry to be negative, but I don't like feeling that the neat space-saving and convenient units that I have bought or been given as presents have to be replaced by a more expensive system because they simply can't be set up to work reliably. There, that's said it.
