Hi there It's usually good practice when testing any new application etc to switch off firewalls / AV software. (Only while testing)
The reason for doing this is that if there is STILL a problem with the application you haven't introduced extra complications -- especially with AV software which runs tightliy integrated with the OS. Once you've got the application running - then switch on firewalls etc again. Most people doing computer testing use this type of approach -- keep the component under test as simple as possible to eliminate other sources of error or problems. Now it's very easy to test if it's an IP problem. Do this. SWITCH OFF or DISCONNECT all your computers from your router. You don't have to re-boot them BTW. Now with your controller / duet go back to FACTORY RESET. Connect to your network through the router - enter the password etc. Now you should be able to connect to squeezebox.com and play something on the radio. Re-connect one of your computers to the network. If you get an IP address conflict -- problem solved. Switch off the controller and set the IP address of your computer to 192.x.x.02 Now try to switch on the controller again and see if you can connect. (Don't start squeezebox server on your computer until you've got the controller to connect to the remote logitech server). Once you've got connected start the squeezebox server on your computer and switch the controller to it. Now add the rest of your computers to your LAN. Things should work fine from here on in. Setting up can either be a breeze (in most cases) or a real DOG -- the problem is that when it doesn't work first time its a pigs ear to solve and if you aren't reasonably computer literate you will get into serious trouble with this. Logitech really needs to look at making the whole setup process much more robust. However once you DO get it all working it's great and FAR FAR cheaper than other streaming solutions out there of comparable quality - such as FLAC / WAV play, Optical connections etc. Cheers jimbo -- jimbo45 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ jimbo45's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20276 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73535 _______________________________________________ Radio mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
