I've only used a remote (SB2 or Boom remote) a little bit with the SB Radio and the few I've used have worked fine. It also proved to me that I would only ever want to use an IR remote on the SB Radio for those functions that didn't require seeing the tiny screen (eg, on/off, pause, fwd, rew, volume, etc.). For anything that requires reading the screen you have to be close enough that the front panel controls are within reach.
I've had my SB Radio for several months and haven't encountered your (1)-(6) issues.
