Thanks for your replies! Some responses...
@raven22: Yes, there's no doubt the ReadyNAS is relatively slow when using conventional HTTP access. But our SB3s (which I assume are more-or-less thin clients running directly off the server) work pretty fast. But you may be right: how does the Radio interface to the server software? On album art, no it isn't displayed fully. Album art is typically square (eg, 300x300) and the display is 4x3. So the art is cropped top and bottom to fill the display. @aubuti: Half of an SB3 remote is taken up with numeric/alpha buttons which allow you to navigate quickly to a particular artist or album, just as on a mobile phone. Not only do those keys not work properly with the Radio but some do quirky things like play an apparently random album. I would have hoped/expected that Radio (and Boom, although I don't have one!) would be able to accept these fuller function remote capabilities, especially as I have a moderate-sized library of around 11,000 tracks/850 albums which makes rotary dial navigation tedious. _________ I agree with your sentiments of hoping that the issues will be addressed by firmware updates. And I'll knock up a Linux box running Squeezebox Server (still using the NAS as the music store) to see how the Radio performs with that! -- Reeshar ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Reeshar's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35996 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=74259 _______________________________________________ Radio mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
