I rarely play my own music, but I use Squeezebox server. This way there is no changing back and forth for the times (even if rare) that you use your local music files. It is more seamless, as Squeezebox server connects to mysqueezebox. I never have to go into menus and choose "change to mysqueezebox" or whatever. Whether playing local music or internet radio. You see people complaining all the time about how to switch back and forth (I don't have to think about it -- it happens by the software itself). Also there seems to be better/more configuration options with squeezebox server.
