Ask yourself this: Would the battery life of (totally guessing here) 6-10 hours be sufficient for this application if it did _not_ power itself down completely? The big power drain here is the wifi and as long as the Radio is in standby, the wifi would run and stay in contact with the wireless network. Do you really want to charge it every 8 hours so that you can keep it ready to use instantly? Would it be better to wait to power up or find a Radio with a completely dead battery when you went to use it?
I suppose it could be made configurable to shut down the wifi radio instead of powering off completely, but I've witnessed Squeezeboxes trying to re-establish wireless connections (log in to wireless router, find server, etc.) enough times to think that it wouldn't be much faster than going through the full power up sequence. -- JJZolx Jim ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=76177 _______________________________________________ Radio mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
