I haven't been around lately because after a while I got everything
working just fine and left it that way. I wasn't looking for an
extended family when I bought my first Duet, but the darn thing almost
drove me crazy for a while. And then I got into all the plug-ins and
on and on. I ended up with a bunch of SB's right up to the Transporter
and really love em all, but once I got it working, including the SBC as
a player, then I quit the game. I was interested in the Radio because
it was something I thought would be useful long before it came out.
However I resisted because I was happy running on 7.3 and didn't want
to ruin my care free experience.

Recently a friend expressed interest in the radio. He is not
techinical at all and doesn't want to be. So I thought it might be a
good time to try the Radio hooked up to a seperate server running the
latest Squeeze Server software.

The Radio seems to work fine after ones nights use (except the darn
auto-brightness feature), but I would never reccommend it to anyone
other than a techie or someone with time on their hands and no where to
be in the morning when the alarm fails :-)(It is a stated feature and
should work. The car analogy is very valid). For my purpose, it will
be fine. I want something quick and easy to take outside that I don't
have to plug in. Of course as it is I still have to plug it in because
Logitech will never be any better at planning than they are at
designing. They remind me of Nikon and anyone who shoots knows exactly
what I'm saying.

One surprise was statically addressing the Radio. I thought when the
Boom came out that Logitech had actually learned a lesson from the SBR,
but that isn't the case. Once again statically adddressing the device
is a pain in the patooey for those of us who don't use DHCP. Thanks the
gods for Christian Erpelding and his SqueezeConfig software that runs on
my Droid. Makes things a bit easier. Logitech should be so helpful.

So, all in all I guess Logitech sold one more Radio, but not two or
three or however many people ask me about the little box sitting on my
table outside playing it's little heart out. Or I may decide running
two servers to be silly and send it back. Either way I guess I'll be
watching this forum for a little while and then after everything works
well again I'll go back in to my happy music listening bliss.
