Yeah - this is the most annoying thing for me too.
On rare occassion I want to just recheck/change the alarm settings,
when it's dark already. If the display just went bright, when I turn
the knob a bit and stays bright for 20 seconds or so I would be very
happy.

Reducing the minimum brightness is no option, as I want it to be dark
in the night of course.
