Does the scanner always stop in the same place? if so it could be a problem file/tag/art. If it's random then problems have been reported with 7.5.4.
Some have reported successfully fixing scanning issues in by replacing scanner.exe with the version from 7.5.3 or just running 7.5.3 entirely.
