yes, as pippin notes, with ipeng and squeezepad, ithings can be
Squeezeboxes (and I'm very impressed with ipeng's latest player
capabilities (24/96 file passthrough, ability to perfectly sync with
other players, gapless.....brilliant stuff).   So I could probably go on
for many years with existing LMS and things like ipeng and squeezepad.

The only thing I'm a bit concerned about is ability to connect with
services. LMS will work forever with my local music and internet radio
with URL favorites.  But I also use MOG, sirusXM, and tunein (when I
can't find a direct URL for internet radio). For these items I believe I
must have the mysqueezebox.com credentials (in LMS) to make the required
handshakes.  If this functionality of mysb.com could be done by third
party LMS plugins, I'd be perfectly happy.
