I, too, want to thank Michael that he got this open discussion rolling.

Now, looking at this I'm a bit split:

On the plus side, I DO see that the technical changes make sense, it's
not fully how I would approach this, but it's a decent way. If I was
under the impression that there was a decent effort behind it I would
congratulate to the decision. The same is true for using the UE branch
which at least seems to know how to promote products these days.

On the negative side: The whole introduction scenario clearly shows that
Logitech still has no idea what they are doing and in what market they
are working. They are leaving their installed customer base and
developer base behind, pissing them off and not even offering them an
upgrade path. All while having an incomplete new product offering that
has no value proposition as it is now. This way, the product will be
dead soon. It's a bit like watching Twitter committing suicide right
now, quite a number of parallels to be seen.

I believe now it's up to us as a community to show that there is a value
in us and that we can keep the old platform alive or make something new
out of it. We've always claimed that the product is not dependent only
upon Logitech and I still firmly believe that.
