I just thought I'd give you all a shout because I think I have a "partial" solution to issues related to Squeezebox eliminating its progression. Of course nothing is perfect, but I work in marketing for a company creating products to do exactly what you loved about squeezbox...and we're just getting off the ground with several products. I know how passionate Squeezebox users are, our CTO was one and part of how we began our development. Perhaps we can bridge a gap as Logitech goes in a little bit of a direction.
We are VOCO, and We use a voice/touch interface on Android and Apple to stream music and video throughout your home. We use squeezebox software along with our own proprietary stuff on our back end.
