For those that are curious, I have been able to upgrade my SB Radio to the UE Radio and then back again to an SB Radio.
I had previously upgraded to the UE Radio firmware manually last week using the steps in this thread. I then changed it back to the SB Radio firmware last Friday as noted in this thread. This is the only SB Radio I own so I thought no harm in trying the process and seeing if I could reverse it for curiosity's sake. Worse case, I ended up with a UE Radio but such was not the case. Steps I took: - Logged into mysqueezebox.com account and chose the 'Update to UE Smart Radio' option under the Player section. - A new menu option appeared on the main SB Radio screen - 'Update to UE Smart Radio' - From the new menu, I selected 'Continue' - From the subsequent menu, I selected 'Begin update (10.0.0 r16943) - I let the update download and install onto my radio - Once the update was finished, mysqueezebox.com said my radio was now updated and I needed to access it via the uesmartradio.com website - I enabled the Developer menu ( in the Settings menu press Home+Fwd and you will get a new Developers menu ) from this thread - I enabled SSH access again via the Remote Login menu - Rebooted the radio - In order to allow the Software Update to again function, I had to ssh into the radio and change the SetupFirmwareUpgradeMeta.lua file to allow the menu to show (again as stated in this thread) - Via scp, I uploaded the old firmware (baby_7.7.2_r9663.bin) to the /dev folder. - Via ssh, I created a symlink in the /media folder - Rebooted the radio - On the radio, I chose 'Software Update' from the Advanced menu and it showed the baby_7.7.2_r9663.bin as the available firmware (first time I tried, it said that the update failed. I ssh'd in and noticed the firmware in the /dev folder was gone so I uploaded it again, rebooted again and was able to apply the firmware) - The firmware installed and the radio rebooted and the radio was again an SB Radio One caveat, once I rebooted and was back at an SB radio, when I logged into mysqueezebox.com, I got a message stating that my radio had been upgraded and I had to use uesmartradio.com to manage it. For kicks and giggles, I did a factory reset on the radio, and was again able to add it to my mysqueezebox.com account and am now controlling it as before. I may have forgotten a step but everything I did was from this thread (I have little to no Unix experience) and as an aside, this was all done from a Mac using Terminal. Hope this helps others who are thinking of doing it. Good luck! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ gilbreen's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=57789 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96256 _______________________________________________ Radio mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
