Oh I remembered wrong, it was 1.5V not 1.2V. Anyway here's the part number: LP2985AIM5-1.5/NOPB It doesn't sound like this is your problem, though, it's probably a supply further upstream.
To diagnose why something is drawing too much power I usually just leave it powered for a bit with a constant-current supply, and then I just feel around to see what part is too hot.
