The other problem is getting a $1 item when there is a minimum order for
components from the supplier. I told the shop I am willing to wait until
it makes sense to tack this onto another order, and if they want me to
bring back the radio and they can let it sit and confirm this is the
part they think will resolve the issue, etc.

I totally understand they don't care to go the lengths that I am willing
to go to.

When I had a C band satellite TV system, with the old school manual
mover, I found the guy who fixed the police radios and we determined the
rectifier on the mover had blown. Nothing like a cheap fix and 5
minutes, to keep electronics working.

Now it is $25 or more for them to simply look at it, and another fee if
they tell you it can't be fixed but you want them to take it as
e-waste.

I am determined not to put this in the landfill nor sell it to anyone
else until I determine I can't bring it back to life. After all, aren't
we all on this forum for the same reason: end of life products?

I have a boom, a duet (receiver and remote), and this radio, as well as
a replacement for it: a UE radio I booted to be a SB radio. I cannot
give up, now!
