Yeah sure - that's why I didn't dismiss it as an option - I did do a quick search and read to confirm the different circuit issue, perhaps the newer Homeplug AV2 protocol is less sensitive to this, but certainly it is often mentioned not to use them on different circuits. Further searching just now found... Don't, do, do but expect a performance drop, do but it may not work, so I guess as you say it would be a case of try and see.
