All this chatter on different voltage feeds/circuits is irrelevant to
the OP (tswright), being in Australia he will have a single phase supply
to his home... 220/230/240v - one live wire supplied to premises, I
think it's only North America that uses the 120v/240v split-phase
system.

And now he's tested it powerline adapters do not work for him:

Terry just to clarify, 

Are you looking to drop the Telstra Smart wifi booster and try another
setup?
Or planning to retain the Telstra Smart wifi booster and add another
wifi setup specifically to work with just the SB Radios?
