I think that gender support requires some work and thinking but for now I've extracted my code into a plugin. It needs yaroslav's russian gem at the moment (I use it for pluralization rules). I know that it's not even nearly completed but for me the best way is to play with code and give it to review by others. And I've never written a rails plugin or ruby gem (I know, it's a shame) - finally I have good reason to do it ;-)
