The groups exist, don't build another. Apply the advice on shipping software from Getting Things Done to shipping your ideas to your Melbourne group. I might be wrong and you may get an influx of people to your "MXUG" list, but my bet is no-one cares about your group. What they *do* care about is your Ruby/non-Ruby technical insights, so share them at your next meeting. If the Melbourne group is anything like the Sydney & Brisbane Ruby folk, they'd lap it up.
