I'd welcome a mixed bag style user group like a regular barcamp. I was at
the Melbourne camp last year and I thoroughly enjoyed the diversity of
subjects. It was like a tasting plate at a restaurant - some things are
great and you want to try a bigger serving while others are less palatable
(but all you've lost is 15-30 mins). The key thing is that you get exposure
to a number of things outside of your normal area of expertise and interest.
I like the idea of a user group where the idea is to bring in totally
different subjects not just those related to the group.

I don't see any harm in starting one, what do you have to lose anyway? If it
doesn't fly then the group will fizzle out. If it generates enough interest
but not enough to warrant an entire group then it can be merged back into an
existing group and will hopefully bring some new ideas with it.

OK - that's a quorum (I don't need much encouragement).
