Ok, this response is from my husband, Chris:
Bro. Fischer:
I apologize for the delayed response.
First of all I've heard this taught by J. Vernon MaGee, a ex Protestant
Pastor who wanted to teach the whole Bible. Though he has been dead for 12
years, his messages are heard today 1000 times per day in 50 different
languages around the world. The 30 minute radio show is called "Thru the
Bible Radio" and he goes through the Bible in 5 years.
Secondly, please understand whether you believe Samuel spoke or Satan is
about as pointless as arguing whether Adam had a belly button. It won't get
you into heaven or send you to hell. But, in my opinion is an important
question.
The order of events. The witch knew it was Saul. She asked if this was a
trick to expose her so Saul's men would kill her. He said "I swear to God."
So I think this woman couldn't conjur up potatoe soup if someone peeled them
but (suposition) she started to put on a show with incense and smoke and
such. WoooOOOooo! The witch says "I see a man with a mantle!" Saul's face
hits the ground so he didn't see Samuel. The description of Samuel was
typical of a priest-a old man with a mantle.
Mantle is the cloth they put on their head. At this point I believed Satan
spoke through the woman. Do you watch Unsolved Mysteries and other shows
where people see ghosts from the past? This is what the Bible refers to as
familiar spirits. Demons imitating past humans. Satan did a good Samuel
impersonation and only told Saul about his past and what Satan hoped his
future would be. I don't recall God ever delivering an extreme detrimental
message to another appointed priest of prophet. The custom was to fast
before war. Saul believed the message and the witch talked him into tea and
bread which ended his fast.
My overall observation is God is the same yesterday today and forever. If I
don't hear from God, can I call 1-900-Cleo-Tarot reader to conjure up
Wigglesworth, Paul the Apostle. No! I don't believe Saul was the exception
nor am I.
That is my point. Don't seek witches or mediums. We are to be the light of
this world and not seek darkness. Not in children's books or Buffy the
Vampire Slayer or other media sources that mainstream practicing or
exhibiting blatant DEMONIC Cults. Am I perfect? No...I've watched my fair
share of "Bewitched" in my younger days. But, now I try to filter or censor
what my family watches. We will all answer for our shortcomings. If Victor
is comfortable reading "Harry Potter" to his family, then we should not
judge. Judge not lest ye be judged. The Bible says we should judge
ourselves, working out our own salvation.
Victor, if you are praying about this and questions are running through your
mind, here are some to ask yourself:
As a credentialed pastor would you stand before your congregation and
unashamedly read every word of "Harry Potter"?
Next: Would you stand before God in the throne room and His Son and read
"Harry Potter"?
These are tough questions, but I'm really not "throwing the first stone".
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May the Lord shine his countenance upon you.
Brother Chris

So who was it now, who was talking in this message?

Does God need Satan to fulfill what he had told Saul earlier:
"And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the
commandment of the LORD thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the
LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever.
But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after
his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his
people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee." (1st
Samuel 13:13-14)
"And Samuel said unto him, The LORD hath rent the kingdom of Israel from
thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine, that is better
than thou." (1st Samuel 15:28)
Always prepared for Jesus.
