It is an amphibious vehicle commissioned by one Adolf Hitler. His remit to the German engineers was to build a basic vehicle with variations which could operate in diverse climates. The VW air cooled engine was designed to operate in (and did) the deserts of North Africa. I think you may find it copes better than you think, eh Gunter.
