My Pastor uses "interactive" sermons on many
occasions. These sermons use input and responses from the people in the
pews. (He doesn't use a pulpit either...how refreshing.) They are definatly
not what I call entertaining but they do get and keep your attention and they
are extremely effective at getting the point across. I've encountered both the
structured/non-interactive church service and the interactive church
service. Given an option...give me interactive any day...in a interactive
service the mind doesn't wander as much and you don't dare go to
sleep...grin.
I bet that "$20 dollar" sermon had every ones
undivided attention. I wouldn't call that flim flam...I would call it a good use
of the resources at hand. I've seen some crazier things done in uth
services...why?...to get the undivided attention of the uth so that the gospel
can be presented. Personally, my $20 stays in my pocket. On judgement day God
will sort all the "$20 sermons" and He will decide what is flim flam and what
was divine inspiration. We're on the same team...our perspectives are just
different.

Subject: NEW QUESTION? [RR] *If I buy you
lunch for $20..
*I guess I'm "On it" with reguard to Flim
Flam Con-Artists and the general use of the terms:
"I don't care who
you are or what you think"
When I sit in a pew... it isn't for
entertainment or to watch the magician do a trick. With reguard
to stomping on a $20 bill.. *If that suits you then grab yur wallet and
start jumping.. *It don't mean nothing to me. *But HELL will freeze,
I said: they will be holding Olympic Ice Danceing in HELL before I'll walk
up.. submit to a con-artist and be sold a bill of goods.
Someone,
thinks the $20 bill is the same?
You may not be able to detect my
"upset".. BECAUSE IN A CHURCH SETTING UNLIKE RANGERNET.. *we
construct the service so that it is NOT interactive..
Given
the ability to respond.. to INTERACT- say by a keyboard being right *there
handy-*while the Man is stomping on the $20 bill in Church..you can be
sure that I will be posting "upset"... and hitting control X!
If the
man offers you the $20.. run up there.
I'd like to move
on...
