Keep in mind that it costs money to operate any ministry, whether it's a local church, a section or district Royal Rangers ministry, or the A/G headquarters. Most districts that I know of are funded by collecting a portion of the ministers' tithe (some take 100%), but the national A/G headquarters is not funded in that manner. Yes, credentialed ministers must pay a fee each year to renew their credentials, but that sum is not sufficient to operate the many ministries of the A/G. Yes, headquarters is pushing more and more of the various ministries to become self-sufficient, including Royal Rangers. Apparently we have been receiving a subsidy for some time; the most recent charter increase that was announced at National Council is designed to help reduce the need for this subsidy. But since the A/G headquarters needs money to support the various ministries, including those that can't bring in sufficient funds to cover their own operating costs, the A/G headquarters has to have a mechanism to raise those funds. I suspect that GPH is part of that. If you eliminate the profit from GPH, what do you propose as a funding mechanism for headquarters?
