Interesting remedies! Thought it to be noteworthy that here in this part
of Texas, which is not really too far from Pastor Jeff and Sis Kelly, our
ticks have moved out when the fire ants moved in. In 1982, when my wife
and I were first married and came here from West Texas for a visit, we
were awestruck by the beauty of N. E. Texas. In fact, we had no idea
that any part of Texas even looked like this! We thought we had made it
to heaven ahead of time! Then our bubbles popped when we looked down on
the father-in-laws driveway and actually could see ticks making their way
towards our waiting bodies in ambush.
Several years down the road, after we had moved out here, the
tick populations presence and threat became notably absent from our
lives. Then I found out that the fire ants had moved 'em out. So, Praise
the Lord for fire ants! (I think)
The vasaline and kerosene solutions are new ones on me and seem
very interesting. Much more inovative than my old fingernail lock and
pull hard technique. Never seen one back out of skin yet. I was beginning
to think it to be only legends folk lore and wives tales.
What are the hottest things going for chiggers? Unfortunately,
our N. Texas District camp grounds are year round camping for them
sneaky little boogers. Guess I won't mention the scorpions. Wouldn't want
to veer from the subject at hand too much.
