Hee hee..but do you drink coffee??
I heard that was frowned upon over there-is that so?
Isn't it strange how one country condemns one thing and overlooks another.
I guess they are just cultural sins! Limited only to certain cultures.
I agree with whoever said a beer or two isn't excess but fallen down drunk
and the bottle has control of you -not the other way around.
I quit, almost cold turkey, and now almost 30 years later I see how God
saved my life but cleaning me up and having me quit alcohol. If I had
continued I would be dead-a fact. I have been living with Hepatitis C for
over 30 years and it will destroy your liver and kill you but if you drink
while you have it you're a gonner. I have a cousin who didn't reach age 30
because of it.
Now I'm happy to say that I am healed of the virus. Yup. Did a year long
treatment (that almost killed me) and its gone. Another guy in my church
went through it at the same time as I did. We helped each other make it week
by week and he is healed too. The docs call it "cured" but we know the
greatest Doc.
Now the question is -can I drink occassionally-now that I'm healed. I don't
want to risk it. There is scar damage from the disease and my liver may not
be real healthy yet.
And then theres the testimony I have to keep as a Ranger Commander. I have
boys looking up to me. One time I went to convinience store and bought 2
cans of beer. No not to drink-to make a batter for a fish fry. It is a good
batter for deep frying. Anyway I felt guilty about bying it-what if someone
walked in while I was buying it. How could I explain it? Is that silly or
what?
I quit smoking for the same reason. I felt like a heel when others smelled
it on my breath and had to hide from my own family and kids. It just wasn't
worth it. So I gave it up for good, also.
Now I don't condemn anyone else who does either of these habits but I know
that given our cultural customs I can't do them and have a peace about it.
So in a way, doing them would be hell for me.
