Good outreach. Give it a try. If the new boys follow the same rules (car building wise) I say let them all race together. It gets the introductions over with in a fun setting.

Advertise the race in advance. Have the new boys sign up and give them a race packet including the rules and have cars available for them to purchase. Spell out what is legal and for the rest have an unlimited class. Invite the fathers, mothers, sisters and brothers. Get everyone involved. Have them see what Rangers is about (besides the Pinewood derby). Have displays by outpost. What a great way to recruit.

Go for it and most of all, have fun.

God Bless,

Subject: [RR] Pine Wood Derby

Greetings,

We are getting ready to host our first ever sectional pinewood derby race.
Do you allow parents & Boys.... to come to the derby and participate.. that are not a part of Royal Rangers.

To be fair to the boys who are in a Ranger Group... if you do allow them do you have a separate race for them so that a Ranger takes home the ribbon/trophy in a division that is for his class... Ranger Kids... Adventure Kids... Discovery kids and then a "First Timer.. Visitor.. race?

Do you have a race for commanders only and a race for parents?
And.... do the moms and sisters get to join in the fun in a "ladies" race...

Would an Pastor's Race Off also be approrpate? (Get them involved) Maybe give a
special tropey that they bring back each year to see which church can keep it for a year or something?

Or........ do you keep this strictly father-son of enrolled ranger groups?
