Really the point is moot. What were talking about here is freedom. I really don't care to give mine up so I will encourage my neighbor to own and bare arms. Shoot first ask questions later.
Perhpas this is it Mark. I choose to give up certain "rights" to enjoy my freedom in society. Guns are just one of the "freedoms" I give up for a bigger "freedom"
Yet I am not free. I have been bought with a price. I am a bond-servant.
My master tells me to love those around me. To be salt and light in a world of darkness and evil.
He tells me to turn the other cheek to ensure my eternal freedom.
[thinks out loud]
What I find fascinating is that so many American Christians would put their second ammendment "rights" above the instruction of their Lord and Saviour. Why is that?
Oh they try and justify this and that.
But at the end of the day there is this independence bordering on rebellion, defiance of rationality and direct instruction from Jesus. There's a kind of paranoia that is ingrained in their psyche. It seems that they think 'If I let my guard down for one moment, "they" will get me.'
Funny thing is that the "they" changes over the years. It started with the church, then the British, then the southerners [or northerners], then the communists, the EU, then the terrorists... And overlayed on all of this entire history is a theme of distrust of their elected governments... Who's next?
What happens when they've hated and despised and feared everyone that there is to hate, despise and fear? What do they do then? Do turn on themselves again, starting the whole cycle over?
[shakes his head]
I just don't understand...
Victor.
