Sounds like a foolish parent trying to continue spoiling his/her child by making sure he gets his way.

'Everyone knows' means 'Nobody knows and there are no facts to back up this statement.'

We are getting the Patrol system working in our outpost and Monday

I am informed that boys cannot tell other boys what to do. I explained
that we use the patrol system similar to Scouts, ( his son was in Cub
Scouts), and I was Immediately informed that Scouts had done away with
that practice some time ago. "Everyone knows that one boy cannot tell
another one what to do in any circumstance."
Does any one know where this parent is coming from? Doesn't Scouts still
use it?
