I have never been in scouts so I do not know where to look for this information.
Where can I find detailed information about how patrols and patrol leadership positions are implemented in Boy Scouts? What ages are involved, what responsibilities, etc......... Thanks.... Scoutings patrol's are not at all that way. *If you come to be a member of one of the 8 patrols in Troop328 you as a young man will experiance the "weight of leadership" You desire to hold a position for rank advancement, and you may not know the "hardest" job in the Troop is being elected "Patrol Leader" there are easier jobs to gain time in leadership. A Boy "Patrol Leader" must work with SPL/Sr.Guide to develop a meeting plan and carry information to his patrol by attending a PLC (patrol leader council) outside of the regular meeting time. You as patrol leader must envolve your patrol in real duties as assigned by SPL and plan food or logistics for every campout held each month in any weather. You plan a menu.. you set a fee.. you shop.. you pack the food and cook gear for the patrol and you *COLLECT from everyone or LOSE THE MONEY. (This happens.. you have options but the Patrol is a "family" and must take care of it's own) Along the way~ A Boy may tell another boy something, and expect that on his honor he will do his duty. Adult Leaders stay away from those tasks 100% unless it is a obvious snafu or failure. We work as observers and coaches. Cub Scouts however uses something called a "Den" and it is headed by an adult leader. It is very simular to Royal Rangers. Cub Scouts are absoved from most logistical responsibilities to provide time for fun and friendships to grow. WEBELOW's are a transition into scouts.. a half-way program. FACT: *Not every Cub Scout joins a troop or stays with Boy Scouts. The transition to becomeing responsible for yourself outdoors is sometimes too much a streach for some. They fall away... Royal Rangers likely would chase them down.
