Why are we here? Many of us have different reasons, but I serve in Royal
Rangers because:
1. I want my sons to have the opportunity to experience and learn from a
high-quality, Christ-centered scouting program. I really got a lot from the
boy scout troop sponsored by my church when I was growing up, and
naturally, I want to share good things with my beloved sons.
2. Royal Rangers is blatantly, unashamedly Christian, with a goal of
Reaching, Teaching, and Keeping boys (and girls) for Jesus Christ. So am I.
This is nothing other than a part of the Great Commission, so it is clearly
something good we are trying to do.
3. Our church runs a great Royal Rangers outpost. I'd say most of the
commanders on this mailing list would be amazed at the problems we don't
have. God is seriously blessing us, here. Praise God!
4. God has called me to minister to children - my own, first, but also to
others.
5. The scouting stuff in Royal Rangers isn't just useful and fun, it also
provides an environment that makes it easy for boys to see that you really
mean what you say about Jesus Christ.
6. I really do like camping and hiking.
7. My sons really appreciate my being involved with them in Royal Rangers.
8. I've seen fruit come from this ministry -- including praying with boys
to ask Jesus Christ into their hearts and watching as they truly become
disciples of Jesus Christ.
9. Even in those times when I didn't feel like it (and I've had a few times
when I was tired and had too much to do), I keep on serving in Royal
Rangers because the love of Jesus Christ constrains me.
10. The little boy inside of this grown, bearded man likes to have fun with
the other little boys!
11. I get to enjoy the fellowship not only of some fine boys (and girls,
because we do some things jointly with the Missionettes), but also of some
fine commanders like you.
12. While Royal Rangers has room for improvement (and I'd like to believe
that we are sensitive to the Holy Spirit in doing so more and more), it
outshines any alternatives I've seen.
That's why I give at least 100% effort to Royal Rangers during the time I
devote to it (even though that time is much less than 100% for obvious
reasons).
