Our church in Millville, NJ runs about 100 Rangers and Missionettes on
Wednesday night. Youth meet on Monday night. It works weIl for Millville. I
strongly support Rangers and Missionettes and feel it's tragic when pastors
mandates that boys and girls have to make a choice which program/ministry they
will support or they go into youth when they turn 12 or 15 years of age.
These ministries are different, yet they compliment each other. The purposes
in Youth, Rangers, Missionettes, and Sunday School is still to reach, teach,
and keep boys and girls for Christ. The only things that are different are
methods and tools used to reach those goals.
For the most part, the Youth Pastors push youth rather than other ministries
in the church is because youth pastors are accountable for their ministries.
Being successful in their ministry is good for their careers. This is a very
sensitive area and should be approached with prayer and great care. After
all, you want the youth pastor on your side.
I hope some of the larger churches could comment on this subject. I visited
Capital Christian Center in Sacramento, CA a few years ago. They seem to have
it together.
Don't give up. God bless.

NJ Dist. Royal Rangers
Southern Sectional Commander
