No uniforms no Rangers. Tell them to drop the Ranger name and call it
romper room. Read in the RR Leaders manual about uniforms. It is the
truth and the uniform will make or break your Ranger Program.
Show me a outpost that wears RR Uniforms and you will see Advancements,
merits and the Royal Ranger Program in action.
Figure a way out to finance it. Monthly Offering, Fund raisers, Dues and
a Church Budget.
Fund raisers, car wash, Firecracker stand, sell candy. mow yards, paint
houses. Lots of stuff.
Dues. My family will spend 160.00 for one adult and 2 kids for a white
water pass for a few month season. If your program is a real blessing
and you take the boys camping and on outting. It would be acceptable to
ask for a few dollars for dues each week. Always keep in mind the
charitable ones that will need help paying their way. Ask for help from
well to do families to help out here. This takes a constant reminder
home to keep this up.
Leaders need to set an example. Get your commanders in uniforms and
encourage the boys to wear them. Put out a quarterly award system to
reward boys and leaders who make the grade. Post these scores up on a
board for all to see. Then hand out great camping items, sleeping bags,
good mess kits, knifes, lanterns..etc.
The outpost council should be in class B as well. Were there is a
Vision there is success. Keep pluggin away at it and it will become a
norm.
For the past several years we have averaged 15 leaders, 5 outpost council
men and 45 boys and young men in full class B uniform every Wed. Night.
95% of everyone there is as it should be. Full Class B uniform. If
everyone was there we would have a 100 in full class B. That is
rare...grin! Now add onto to that all merits and advancements and
outting... we averaged over 20 each year with 30 scheduled this last
year. Now you know why the database...ha! The database makes tracking
all this easy.
