*.02 cents from the West Coast..
BALANCE-----*
*ministry and *program go hand in hand if we model true life of modern
Christian Men.. It SHOULD be that way.. *however Royal Rangers application
of training and administration swings with the wind...
*Jonathan stands tall for the "spiritual point" of the 4 gold points..
*Mark stands tall for dicipline and order- and *achievement in uniform.
Both make strong points!
------------------------
*But the impact point is what a boy "recieves"...
I *THINK.. we all need to review section 5 of the LTC reguarding
Communication, and **plan the feature/devotional to
echo a theam.. that the boys can grasp with the "Hand" and the "Heart"
(*Hand and Heart- means a balance of activity with reflective times)
Outstanding devotional thoughts are squandered when boys are "figgity"
or hyperactive, as boys come in all shapes and sizes.. we lump them
in groups and order "sit still" while we scramble to:
(Mini-Flame) *make "re-pairs" of a un-planed meeting...
The LORD guides our Ranger meetings when they are in order and productive.
Royal Rangers is an "Organized" effort and it would be right for a parent
or a boy to request a copy of the meeting plan! *Plans let everyone in on
what is desired.. and *plans can be changed.. or carried over to the
following week *if required..
*EVERYMEETING NEEDS TO BE PLANED!
Remember...!
"Boy Leadership" is more than "letting the boys run wild"..
Commander must enforce the Gold-Bar leaders, and build a *spirit of
partnership in a group effort tword a goal... *the next outing..
*Powwow or a *Day Trip... or a craft.
The repeted success of actualy planning and carrying out these goals is
the "Training" for the upcomming boy leaders.. as "they learn the job from
each other" ....re-enforced by a "aware Commander with ready praise!"
*Hot Button..(Forgive me brother..please!)
-----------
*Perhaps.... I'm a rare example of AoG raised Man.. but it is hard for me
to sit and listen to endless sermons. "Ministry" to me came in all night
trips to camp-outs, populated by Ranger "Hero's" who dressed in uniform.
These "Men" did point me to *Jesus the "Master Ranger" but also showed me
examples of interpersonal communication and devotion to service...
The "events" of the day were *full-tilt fun and differed little from a
Boy Scout "jamboree".. Good humor and fellowship and fair play, mixed
with personal issues of camp set-up, hygine and *patrol politics<G>
The nights.. were "reflections" upon the day and our lives..
We would "Gather" for the Campfire.. and sing songs that followed the
flames of the fire.. *First bright and cheerfull then solid and
reflective, and finely it led to the devotional word...
*Salvation....
*HolySpirit...
*Christian service...
...and *ministry would happen in the dust at the outdoor alter!
The dawn would bring another day of play.. for that is the "work" of a
boy<G> and the circle would begin again...
*That's about it..
*As allways, eat the Hay, spew the sticks...
In Christian Love and *Ranger fellowship!
