This is exactly right. God is always first, He demands that. Second is the
family, the wife, the kids, etc; Third is the ministry. I believe that the
ministry should be such, that in at least Royal Rangers, that there should be
no one with an over burdening workload that can't be delegated out to other
Commanders to help with this workload. The Senior Commander is not expected
to run the entire outpost by himself and so on down the line. The Senior
Commander is in charge of the Outpost under the Pastor. Let's not forget how
the chain of command works. Pastor, SrCdr, OP CDR, LTCDR, If all of the
different responsibilities got lumped on to the SrCdr, he would quit from
being burned out. No one wants a burn out because everyone suffers from
that. The whole key here is to communicate effectively and no one would get
burned out that way. A Cmdr should never bite off more responsibility than
he can chew. This isn't beneficial to anyone either. if a Cmdr isn't able to
do something that is expected of him, the Cmdr has a responsibility to make
it known and hopefully in advance that he is not able to perform the task.
This way other arrangements can be made to accommodate the situation. A case
of good work ethic should be in order here, the ministry can at times seem
like a job and many of us can get all wrapped up in it, sometimes to the
point of obsession, once that happens, it's time to take a time out and
re-evaluate what's being done there.
Priorities: God, Family, Ministry. Work comes under the subheading for
family.
I believe that in an ideal scenario that this should at least be the
standard. Or something very close to it.
