Mr. Trower,
This new program strikes interesting to me, as a new GMA Royal Ranger I have
some opinions on the program and how it could change.
When I saw the "Gold Track" program it looked like nothing I had ever seen.
According to the program, I would have to do the Rank advancements, (which
wasn't the problem) and what looked like another additional set of
Advancements. In trailblazers I worked hard and steady to advance to the
explorer rank ,but I found that at the end of the trailblazer program was
the "Gold Hawk" nothing more, also that I made little advancement toward the
GMA but that my path was just starting. I had a lot to do and that the
trailblazer gold track program wasn't helping me much. Some of that go back
to pioneer gold track and finish that confused and fusterated me.
I choose to go the original path, earning the merits from the start and I
wish that through the entire program (like in trailblazers) the reqirements
second class through advanced rating maby be like: tie the **** knot and
bring 5 friends to church... campcrafty stuff then master through explorer
would be: earn three merits of your choice and earn seven GMA req. merits
making ten. and also even having a sixth advancement being the GMA itself so
that it would look like Master, Explorer, GMA !BOOM! you've got it.
I'm not sure what really the new program is going to entail but two things
should be included that what would make it it easier for boy's that have or
are just coming in is: make it pliable for everyone don't put "Complete
pioneer gold trak req." that confuzed me "I thought I was done with
pioneers.." and another thing that should happen is: when you enpliment a
program stand behind it and DON'T BACK DOWN. Please don't change the program
every four years again and again One program and that is all.
Thanks,
Joshua Wheeler

Subject: Re: [RR] New program
A Furthermore, the entire national office staff is STILL
actively involved on the local level -- they have all gotten involved in
Royal Rangers in various churches around the Springfield area since they
moved there. Our national leadership has a tremendous number of years of
involvement in the local outpost.
Furthermore, these changes have been reviewed by the national RR executive
committee numerous times, and have been presented and discussed at numerous
regional training seminars, etc. for the past several months. Thus, most
commanders have at least had the opportunity to go and hear about the
changes first hand, and to have the opportunity to discuss those changes
with the representatives from the national office. If you had the
opportunity, and failed to go, you missed your chance. But if
representatives from the national office came to your part of the country
and you failed to go to the meetings, I don't know what else commanders
expect them to do to show you what is coming, and to give you a chance to
respond . . .
Most recently, several hundred commanders (district and regional staff
members) from across the nation met in Springfield for National Council,
and these plans were actively discussed for several days. I know personally
that the plans and ideas were further modified as a result of those
meetings and discussions. For example, the concept for the new training
program was the subject of intense meetings during that week, and the
concept was refined and focused as a result of those discussions. The
actual development of the training modules is now beginning. The same is
true of the other aspects of the program.
Thus, the changes that are coming were not done in a vacuum, nor in an
"ivory tower." They were proposed by a national staff with years of active
local outpost leadership experience, with the advice and counsel of
hundreds of commanders from across the nation. If you still have concerns,
put them in writing to the national office ([EMAIL PROTECTED]), or discuss
them with your district commander who can pass them on. Complaining on
RangerNet won't accomplish much.
