As a fire burns down to coals.. *something is needed to keep
the fire brite- Fuel is added of course.. but also the Ranger will
*stirr- the embers! If possible as in a "forge" the addition air is
added (O2) the fire will burn hot and raise it's core temp from yellow to
WHITE HOT!

....I call this *stoke!

Surfers paddle out into the Ocean to set-up for series of swells..
these swells are "energy forces" that travel in "cycles" sometimes
for thousand of miles.. the longer the travel and the larger the force
behind the swell... all that is called the "fetch" of the storm...

The North shore of Hawaii is famious for it's surf...

Wieameia Bay has monster surf that can rise to 25feet or more! That's
taller than your house or church.. and surfers ride these things on
thin boards of glasscovered foam! The "fetch" of that surf comes from
the open ocean clear to the north pole!

Energy from 10,000 miles arrives is cyclic sets.. to rise as the "foot"
of the swell touches the Ocean bottom some 125 or feet down! *Next the
top of the "cyclic swell" rises as the water is displaced by the
on-comming energy...

(*You surf-dogs digg'n this?<G>)

At one point... the cycle collapses and the top continues over to form
a "Tube"... if say YOU! were to "catch" this wave and set-up at the "foot"
and "dodge" the "breaking lip" you would be in the tube... surfing in the
"sparkle palace"....

The natural excitement of the monent will transfer into JOY...

*This my fellow surf-dudes is the "Stoke factor"<G>

To say: Get Stoked... means then, to get filled with JOY UNSPEAKIBLE
and be FULL OF GLORY!

*How can we surf in Royal Rangers?
-----------------------------------

*Boys are lost in a dark ocean of the un-known.. they are wanting
to come home to Jesus and friends like you... *But they carry energy that
will be *potentialy, released...

If we as Rangers do not reach out.. (*catch them) that energy..
(The need to find the Joy of the Lord) will pass... they will fade
and in time never come to a saveing knoledge of *Jesus!

(so say the statistics)

What is the result of bringing a friend.. that is headed to Hell to
the Lord?

*I say it's *STOKEAHBOKAH and the outpost is surf city!

GET STOKED! GET HOT!

Subj: [RR] Bernoulli's Principle (for Challengers pursuing Air Rangers)

Mr. Daniel Bernoulli was an 18th century Swiss scientist that discovered
that as the velocity of a fluid increases, it's pressure decreases. How and
why it works and what it has to do with aircraft in flight is forthcoming.
Bernoulli's Principle can most easily be seen through a Venturi tube. This
tube is like cylinder that is narrow in the middle. When fluid passes
through the tube and reaches the narrow part it speeds up. Now normally when
you think that molecules speed up that it would increase pressure too, but it
doesn't. The pressure decreases. As fluid passes over the middle of the
tube, more energy gets used and the molecules accelerate. This leaves less
energy to exert the pressure and the pressure then decreases. Some describe
this as Pressure Differential. Pressure at point A is less than that at
point B, sometimes called Bernoulli's Law of Pressure Differential.
Bernoulli's Principle applies to any fluid and since air is a fluid, it
works there too. The camber of an air foil, a wing as it were, causes an
increase in the velocity of the air passing over it. As the air reaches the
other side of the air foil, there is a decrease in the pressure of the stream
moving over the air foil. This decrease in pressure causes lift.
An easier example to demonstrate this is be riding in a car with the
windows down. Extend your hand flat out straight out the window. Tilt your
hand up ward and the air stream passing will cause your hand to rise. This is
lift. Now if you tilt it downward it brings your hand back down rather fast.
This is drag, or simply put the idea working in reverse. The same principle
also applies in steering an aircraft so that it can go left or right with the
use of it's rudder. Flaps control you vertically, and the rudder controls you
laterally. There you go, Bernoulli's Principle.

Patrols are useful and help encourage the boys to develop leadership. In my
experience, patrols (tribes) in Straight Arrows are largely initiated by
the Chief to make nice groups for games and to help manage large outposts.
One trick that works well with a large Straight Arrow outpost is to have 4
chiefs prepare 4 lessons, one each. The chiefs do one lesson 4 times, for 4
tribes, one per week, so that the chiefs only have to prepare about one
lesson a month, but the boys get 4 different, well thought-out lessons. How
big do you want your outpost to be?

For Buckaroos, being an outfit leader (patrol guide) can be a motivator in
getting advancements, and may include such things as being line leader,
helping light the lamp for devotions, etc.

In Pioneers, patrols really start to be useful, but they take effort to
create and maintain. Giving the patrol guides real tasks, such as planning
meals for outings with their patrols, etc., helps. Patrol standards are
good for meetings and "formal" drive-in campouts, like Pow-Wow, but I
wouldn't be seen with one on a backpacking trip. Still, the patrol
organization is useful in getting boys to help other boys with
advancements, for assigning duties on campouts, and more. Boys become very
sensitive to who is in charge.

In Trailblazers, patrol guides and senior guides really do much of the work
that commanders do in other age groups -- or they should, if they aren't
doing it. The adult leaders supervise, provide wise council, and keep the
direction on track, but the boys share in the leadership in significant ways.

You have no patrol if all you have is a song, skit, yell, bolo tie,
standard, and yell. You have to have real responsibilities and meaningful
tasks to do. Remember, we are training leaders in the body of Christ.

*I've pondered this question for a while..

Speaking out for anything other than Rangers is not my bag..

*So I'm going to dig in the heals of my surf sandals and speak<G>

Beleve it or not.. Royal Rangers is a game.

It works best when we all play the game.<G>

*In this "game" we all have a part...

The Boy..
The Parent..
The Leader..
The Church..

The purpose of the "game" is to wise up the boy<G>
How we play the game is gental... so that we don't get ahead of
unfolding too much, too soon... A boy.. for all his loud noise is a
fragile egg<G> (some are rotten!)

Every "Boy" needs a place to play... Adults can make that happen.
Every "Boy" dreams of ADVENTURE
Every boy will be a familyman one day..

The name of the "game" for a boy is:

"*WHAT WILL I BECOME AS A MAN"
------------------------------
He must- and WILL CONFRONT THAT! *Time will tell!

....will I choose Honor? or will I fail to keep my word.
....Who will I allways remain faithfull too? God? Church? Family?
Friends? Surfing?<g>

Ethics and Abideing respect of the Lord!

The name of the "Game" for a leader is:
=======================================
"What will I do to make this "Game" come alive?"
-----------------------------------------------

We have some TALL ORDERS!

..for nowhere in the AG Church does a young man have any "requirements"
placed on him... *Be warned.. that some label this notion "out-dated"
but ask.. "How can I discuss the articals of Faith" with boys?

That get's a little "dry"<G>

*But in Rangers we can USE THE TOOLS (Brain power) and the boys get "IT"
from a real life dude!<G>

Ranger Leaders also "Out-live" the 18 month life of a Youth Pastor<G>
*That means...along with growing up, watching you is a powerfull
steading force of LOVE! Commanders job is for the LONG HAUL!

Building BOY-LEADERS! builds wisdom and wise councilors<G>

Parents...
Church...

*I've said e-nuff!
