*When I was a *Ranger...
(Back when Gilligans island wasn't a re-run)
I paid my Charter fee and dues each week as a
pledge to *carry my own weight! I collected pop
and beer bottles and recycled them on my bike.
The "Scouts"
have a slogan... "Thrifty- a scout pays his way"
It's a part of their "Scout Law"
Now I've been a Commander.. and have given the boys
*Things... and sometimes that didn't rate a *thank you!
I "notice" they allways had fancy shoes, and though they were
too poverty struck to buy a uniform, they sometimes wore
groovy $17 T-shirts with lizards and had plenty of video
games to play at home.. They seem to have plenty of Woppers
and candy in the pocket.. *That all costs somebody something!

*What about the thought that YOUR OUTPOST ISN"T WORTH
THE PRICE OF A MEAL! ...I know that's hard. but jes think
it through...
How about, as an act of Integrity and *Membership..
You did not accept any Charter fee's that are from
Parents or given as cash to the Ranger!
What if you required that it come from his LABOR?
What if you got 'creative with a fundraiser or
service project to trade for Charter fees?
What if through crafts sold a boy could turn something
into a product that might generate his Charter fee?
