I bring this question. Considering this is a training camp for Leaders
on how to take their boys camping. The leason being taught here is... it
is proper to let your Pioneers camp out of site and mind of adult
supervision? Go ahead and sleep in the church that is a quarter mile
away in a room that you wouldn't hear a cannon go off.
Keep in mind that I have pulled pioneers out of burning sleeping bags
that were supposed to be inside properly placed tents that were abandond
to sleep next to the fire at 3:00 in the morning. My tent was only a
rocks throw away. It was the rock that woke me up.... it was me dumping
the pioneer out of his burning sleeping bag that really got his
attention. I would have not liked explaining to this 10 year olds
parents well I wasn't there when it happend.
In the past 8 years we have went from 12 outtings a year to 32 outings
last year. In that time I have learned the wisdom of the Leaders Manual
on keeping track of your boys and leading them by example. They can grow
and take charge and stretch and build 22 foot tall towers rappell 100
foot cliffs. Plan and pack for 3 day backpacks. Setup and tear down
camp with leaders just working alongside them but them doing it with us.
Keep yur eye peeled fer that there adventurer who just wants to be cool
and do something different... water em and let um grow.
