Hee ha! Snakes.. you gotta love them.
This wed night at RR. A Python and a King snake will make their
appearance and also 2 dinner guests! A coworker has these two snakes and
is going to bring them in and talk about them while these two dinner
guest (rats) are well lets put it nicely invited for dinner!!!
Our boys seem to be fascinated by snakes, lizards frogs turtles. At Pow
Wow. I would imagine I was shown at least 35 of these critters the first
day until they started coming in the mess tent with one in each hand
wanting my approval as to a cool catch... I squelched the fun with anyone
caught with a reptile in the camp boundaries would cause all of us to
loose swimming for that day.... Next few minutes came a frog... I stand
corrected he was an amphibian....grrrrrrh! GRIN! "NO CRITTERS" was the
cry!
When we went to the Lake of the Ozarks for our Pow Wow swim each day we
saw several snakes right where we were swimming. After some strong
urging on my part to "LEAVE THE SNAKE ALONE" we were able to enjoy our
swim with no mishaps.
In 2 weeks we head towards the Buffalo River for a 3 day 2 night backpack
with 5 river crossings. I saw my first wild Timber Rattler there while
we were both eating(the snake and us Rangers) Black Berries. He was a
BIG SNAKE...still gives me the willies!
We almost always see copper heads and black snakes and a wide variety of
snakes when we hit the rivers. Most of the time they are as busy getting
away from you as you are them. It does pay to not surprise anyone!

Tonight we held our very first Spfd South Sectional sponsored RED CROSS
1st aid and CPR class. Had two National Staff members there and 6 others
from local outposts. Praise God we finally got a Holy Ghost filled RR
commander to certify us in Red Cross and CPR! God is Good all the
time! So for the next few months we will be scheduling courses to get
our LTC classes their RED Cross /First Aid Certification! Hallelujah!
