Andy, You have made a gross misinterpretation of my message. In no way did I imply that the  new training program is being watered down. Neither did I say that wearing a uniform is harsh. Nor did I imply it. I confirmed that the LTC is harsh. The last LTC I taught, five out of twelve completed. The homework is overwhelming. I have seen people go through the classes three times before they get the homework done. I have seen more people show up, find out what all is involved, and quit than I have seen complete it.
It is harsh. That is why it is being changed.
My bet is that this is what Johnathan would confirm, because at every presentation I have watched him give on the new training program he has basically said the same thing. I don't know how you read into my post that I had some impression that the new LTA is watered down. That is very interesting. Makes me wonder how your brain works. My true feelings are quite the opposite, I believe it will be much more effective. Thanks, Clint.

Brother Clint,

What gives you the impression that the requirements in the new LMA program are being watered down?  There is nothing harsh about requiring the wearing of a uniform where a commander is concerned.

You can check with Jonathan Trower on this, but I’m certain he’ll confirm it.

On the point of ‘waiting’ for the new LMA program, I can see how that would make sense, but to an untrained commander, I say, get as much training as you can.

Laine,

Speak to the instructor and see if he’ll be willing to work with you so that you can get your funds together to get your uniform in order while you’re taking the course.  Depending on the instructor, it may be a possibility, provided you have a complete uniform before the training ends.  Have some fund raisers in your outpost to get those uniforms.  Nothing wrong with that.

Parson.

This comes from someone who has taught and staffed more than a few LTCs and LTC campouts.

It is harsh.

In a couple of weeks, I will be doing inservice training as Camp director for the first pilot of the new LTA. (Leadership Training Academy). I recommend that you wait and take that. It will be much more user friendly.

Subject: [RR] LTC questions

To all the people who have been to LTC:

I need your help.  I have signed up to go to LTC (my husband and I have) and they sent us a letter about what we need to bring and what to do.  It LOOKS VERY HARSH.  I haven't ever been to LTC so I didn't know what it required.  There's a couple of questions for anyone who knows a lot about LTC that has been bothering me:

They want us to wear these uniforms but we don't have those materials.  Will we have to get these uniforms?  They will be very expensive for us as well because our church doesn't provide the uniforms we have to pay for our own.  Also, we won't have time to order them since the LTC is in August 9th.

IS there any suggestions or comments or anything?  I would greatly appreciate it.  Thanks
