As you know, the United States is a republic, not a democracy. It's
impossible for all of us to have a voice in every state and national
decision, as we would have in a democracy, so we elect representatives to
go to our state and national capitals to represent us in the
decision-making process. In much the same way, our representatives in Royal
Rangers were involved in this decision-making process to bring about change
to the Royal Rangers program. Many of the representatives that requested
change were pastors, who either individually asked the national A/G
leadership for change, or who participated in a pastoral study committee
that examined Royal Rangers a few years ago and recommended change. In
addition, the national RR executive committee (which contains
representatives from the National Council which in turn represents the RR
in each district) also undertook a study to examine the existing RR program
to recommend change. This all took place before Ken Hunt stepped down as
the national commander, so we can't say that it's the new folks in the
national RR office who are pushing for the change. They were brought in to
bring about the change that the pastoral study committee and the national
RR executive committee had already recommended as our representatives.
