Mark,

That is where your Church Board comes in to play. Because, if the Pastor does not support the ministries of the church and I mean all the ministries that the board is supporting than it is time for that Pastor to move on or get out of the ministry himself. The reason being, the pastor is not being an /*_effective_*/ shepherd. They are looking at the church as their church and not God's church.

I truly believe that the passage of wolves in sheep clothing apply to allot of the Assembly of God Ministers also. I myself have recently had to change churches. I am sorry I had to. But the support was not there and it was more of an "I" and "My" attitude from the Pastor. I continue to pray for that church and it's members and the boys that no longer have a leader; but I also ask God to Shake the Pastor awake or remove that pastor any way he seems fit.

I believe that no man should become a Pastor of a church and hold another job for any length of time. I believe a Pastor has to support the ministries of the church. But then again...a Pastor is only a sinner saved by grace just like you and I. They stumble and they sin too. That is why we as members of a church must always uphold our Pastoral staff and their families up in prayer.

I really need to get back to work and stop preaching.

Hey that is a good idea. I will suggest that next time the subject comes up. "Fundraise, Pastor for your salary"
It is the same old problem. Flesh.
I was listening to seculair radio this week and heard a talk show talking about our government officials having to live on social security without the perks like the rest of us...that would be a whole different story... I am like you. It is a faith thing

As far as being on fire in your outpost. The last year before the new pastor took over we had a banner year from fundrasing to five boys saved and over 30 outtings. The pastor is the key to a successful Royal Ranger Program. If he turns that key off..it locks the door so no one goes in or out. Even if you have a room full of leaders and 5 of the 7 deacons are RR commanders a Ranger Bus, Sr. Commander who spends daily hours working for the outpost and a outpost that is fully geared to camp 65. After 3 years of that key being locked we had 10 boys at pow wow. I brought 3 of them myself. Now don't get me wrong. I like our Pastor he is a nice guy and my wife and daughter think he is tops. He just doesn't have a vision for Royal Rangers. The other two Sr. Commanders since I left the position have the same experience.

I've prayed. I've been patient. For 3 years I have kepy my monkey hands out of it. There is little left to do but move on to a church that has a Pastor that is excited about RR ministry and do my best to help.

Mark (And all reading along),

That was very well put! The blame of the failed ministries lies within the church. Starting at the top and working down.

So we've identified the problem what is the solution. More fund raisers...I don't think so. I believe fund raisers to be a secular item that Christians have embraced because of their lack of faith. If fund raisers were supposed to be a part of the church then I believe Pastor's should conduct fund raisers for their own salaries also! And no that is not the offering.

If more Christians would pay their tithes faithfully then the churches would be unstoppable. What's that you say? Money...no...*I am saying if God has control of your wallet he has control of your life!

*Praise the Lord for you guys who trust the Lord enough to pay your tithes faithfully. If you are in a church where you don't get the funding for the ministries from the church..start praying for a solution. I can tell you it is not in fund raising! It is in getting your church fired up about God. It is about promoting the ministries of the church to the members. It is about meeting with the church board and Pastor(s). It is about letting the church know every time a boy accepts Christ or recommits his life to Christ.

Do you as a Royal Ranger leader promote Rangers even in the face of adversity. Do you attend your Sectional/Area meetings and help and encourage in the activities your section is sponsoring. Do you miss Ranger meetings? Do you wear a uniform to all Ranger events, including the weekly meetings.

Or have we as leaders forgot how to do the following or what the following really means?

/With God's help, I will do my best to serve God, my church, and my fellowman; to live by the Ranger Code; to make the Golden Rule my daily rule./

A Royal Ranger is:

   * *ALERT* -- He is mentally, physically, and spiritually alert.
   * *CLEAN* -- He is clean in body, mind and speech.
   * *HONEST* -- He does not lie, cheat, or steal.
   * *COURAGEOUS* -- He is brave in spite of danger, criticism, or
     threats.
   * *LOYAL* -- He is faithful to his church, family, outpost, and
     friends.
   * *COURTEOUS* -- He is Polite, kind, and thoughtful.
* *OBEDIENT* -- He obeys his parents, leaders, and those in authority.
   * *SPIRITUAL* -- He prays, reads the Bible, and witnesses.

*/"READY" - /*Ready for anything! Ready to work, play, serve, worship, live, and obey God's word!

Thanks for reading and listening.

God Bless,

I was wondering how much your outpost receives each year in support from
your church?

What would be an average?

Our outpost ran anywhere from 15 thousand a year to 4500 hundred a year. We probably averaged 6500 a year over a 8 year pierod and that was doing the
old program where we gave the boy a uniform after his third consecutive
meeting attendance. Yes we had a few that never came back...but we had a lot that did and wore those uniforms out wearing them each and every wed night. Those were the good ole days. We didnt have a budget we were just told to run the program the way it was supposed to be ran. The boys had their handbooks and recieved their medals and merits most often right when
they earned them.

We had a staff of 7 outpost council and 25 leaders and averaged some 30
outtings a year.

Our new pastor took our budget and graciously cut it to five hundred per year. I stayed as Sr. Commander for 6 months. That was 3 years ago. He did this to all the ministries I was told. The RR were told they could work
and would have to raise their own funds. It's just about killed the
outpost. They are almost back to bible drill and kick ball. Its hard
seeing the resources just drying up and blowing away. I have remainded faithful to the outtings, and actvities but am not involved in the weekly
meetings.

The Pastor is the key to a successful RR program. I agree. This pastor from the good ole days has taken another church in our Section that barely had the money to buy toilet paper and is about to build a new bigger sanctuary for their church. Their Royal Rangers will soon take off and grow as well.

In our Church were starting to hord trash bags.

All these covenants that these pastors are trying to get new members to
signup and pay for are as vain as the vain repetitions of prayers. It's a waste of time and if these pastors would learn that God gives the blessing and stirs the hearts of people to give and put their faith once again in God
providing that he will provide and bring the harvest in both money and
souls. We are not living in the old testement law neither do I believe the chruch is intitled to 10% of my income. They no longer are taking care of the sick and widows. The government does that... and I am giving 35% of my
income to uncle sam right now.

Its very obvious to me where my source comes from. Putting my faith in
vices and other means is a total waste of time.

There should be enough fodder here to keep you guys busy for a long time.
