a work shirt is just fine.
the TWO people who were ejected were both wearing T-shirts with political
slogans on them.
One protesting the war, one supporting the troops.
The only one getting the publicity is the one protesting the war... (funny
how that works, huh?)
neither shirt was appropriate to the decorum established by congress.
you are old enough to remember the time when going to church meant dressing
in your "Sunday best"
Congress still maintains that tradition.
I, for one, am sad to see some of that tradition deteriorating...

Well there you have it.
Still do not like it. So I guess if I go to congress and have a work shirt
on I cannot attend? I can see if someone is making a scene, then yes remove
them. But, for a politically incorrect t-shirt, get real....
Sorry, just spouting off....

It's not a law. It's a Congressional rule. The Constitution gives Congress a
lot of leeway in how they run things. Personally, I like it, as protesting
(or merely making any sort of political statement) gets in the way of the
business of Congress. Kinda like PETA picketing in a McDonald's about
selling meat products. And then they wonder why they're tossed out (just
like Sheehan! How quaint...). Good call by the Capitol Police.
