Hello, Rangers.
It's been a while since I posted here. My email from Rangernet gets dumped
into a rangernet folder and I pick through it once a month or so.
I'm an usher one month out of three at church and wear a suit and tie for
those months. Also, the second Sunday of every month is Ranger Sunday and
all the leaders wear uniforms to usher. The other Sundays, I wear a knit
shirt and slacks or a dress shirt without a tie.
I can understand that the desire to wear one's best to church on Sunday can
be completely a desire to honor your Savior, like the 3 kings and wise men
who brought gifts to the new King 2000 years ago. On the other hand, the
same behavior can become a habit or a tradition divorced from one's feelings
of worship or reverence (even if the worship and reverence is still there.)
It is why the old man has to "die daily" and our love for Him must be
refreshed and renewed. He is unchanging and loves us the same yesterday,
today and tomorrow. Our flesh and our desires and commitments, on the other
hand, will decay if not kept new. Most, if not all reading this, have
touched the hem of His garment and have felt the life changing force of
Salvation and the Holy Spirit. That is what keeps our eyes directed on His
love.
---

By the way, I was doing a Google web search for an evangelist the other day.
I misspelled his name.
Google found the misspelling used one other time though. I had written his
name in a Rangernet post about a year or so ago and misspelled it the same
way that time. Google had a snapshot of that post and produced it for me to
read. Amazing! (and scary)

How can you keep something respectful when they have no respect?
