I've successfully deployed numerous SA+Razor2's on "modern" Perl 5.8.x
systems, but when I turned to a friend's system who is still running 5.6, I
am encountering strange problems with Razor 2.

You will note that my installation procedure is identical for all of the
systems, with the exception of installing the Razor SDK prior to installing
the Razor-agents on the Perl 5.6 system. I figured the 5.6 would need more
"tuneups" than the 5.8.

Anyhow, I've manually downloaded and installed *ALL* of the listed
requirements in both the SA/INSTALL files and the Razor files, as well as
proactively updating various things like Net::DNS, etc.

Every PERL module mentioned in the INSTALL and README files has been
downloaded and installed [and tested]. Including DB::File

When running with the Razor2 tests, I see the following when running
spamassassin -D -x :

razor2 check skipped: Illegal seek Can't locate object method "new" via
package "Razor2::Client::Agent" at
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/Mail/SpamAssassin/Dns.pm line 392

I am also seeing:

debug: is Net::DNS::Resolver available? no
debug: is DNS available? 0

This is absolute rubbish, since I freshly downloaded and installed Net::DNS
and verified the Resolver is a part of the package. Using "locate" also
confirmed the files were present.

I have patched the Razor clients within the site_perl hierarchy, and also
validated there are no other copies of Agent.pm/Client.pm/etc.

What gives? I'd really like to avoid having to rebuild the entire Perl
installation or upgrade it. There's a lot of software on this machine, and
I maintain this system for my friend as a favour. I keep it safe from
exploits, but little more.

I've upgraded: MD5, Net-DNS, Digest-MD5, Digest-Nilsimsa, Time-Hires, and
others.

What else should I try?

I've turned off razor lookups until I can resolve this.
