I think the service pack 1 for Vista is supposed to come out 1st quarter of
2008. I am waiting until then...

In my experience( I have two machines running Vista Business), Vista is
slower than XP unless you get the most beefy hardware(fast hard drive,
memory, video card, dual core processor) or you turn off the eye candy
stuff(aero).

My only 2cents advice is to stay away from Vista a little bit more!

Greetings R:BASErs

I will soon be purchasing a new computer.

Would anyone be kind enough to offer a recommendation or two on what to
consider? Dual core? Quad core? Windows XP or Vista? Good/bad brands?
Best value, etc.?

Best database to use? No wait, I already have that!!

I'm probably staying with a desktop unit for now. Maybe a laptop by year
end.

Off list is fine unless others might be interested in the topic, too.

Thanks for any suggestions.
