Gunnar, That's how my remote users work. They VPN into the network and access their own machines which are always left on and are enabled for remote use. No TS CALS needed.

Since my need is something like 10 minutes a month I would first look for a cheap way like configure the router so it will allow remote desktop to a specific PC!? It it is possible! All I need it the world IP address of the termnial server and can connect from any where. (Passworded and other security measures of course) However you would need Terminal Server and a Client Access License for each user. It runs very fast and I have had no problems to speak of. If you are interested in this approach, you can do research on MicroSoft Terminal Server 2003 or contact me off list for more specifics. It is not real cheap, but is very robust. Other options would be Citrix servers and clients which some would say are better than the Microsoft product. If this was a seldom used function, (a couple of minutes per day for example) the least expensive would be to use PC Anywhere or similar package. However performance would suffer and some say security is at risk, although I have never had a problem with it. -Bob -- Thompson Technology Consultants LaPorte, IN 46350 219-363-7441 -------------- Original message -------------- From: "Gunnar Ekblad " <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Up to now I have done remote desktop by seting up VPN VPN between routers. Now I need to set up remote desktop to the new service partner for our new switchboard so he can maintain our switchboard without coming to site How do I do it? I do realize this is not an R:Base issue, but since so many of you have done it before me, how do I do it? Sorry to bother with a non R:Base issue!
