If you are going to have more than one person using the database and
files I would suggest that they be on a server, does not have to be the
web server. I would shy away from putting them on a workstation.

HI Marco and Buddy

I guess I still think old school. I like having the data files on my
PC.

This might be fun to look into

Thanks
Marc

Marc
A lot would depend on the server. Memory, cpu etc..

The advantage would be that R:Web would allow access through browsers
(IE, Firefox).

You could also have people remote into the server and run R:Base V8
from the server this way you everything would be R:Base code.

Hi Buddy

This is a little over my head, Ok way over my head.

How would the speed compare to regular network?

What is the advantage for the user? or me?

Thanks
Marc

Marc
This could be done using R:Base V8, Oterro and R:Web.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - Server based app

Hi

I am not sure I am explaining this right but here goes.

I got a call from a guy that wants to have a medical billing app based
on
his server
where over 100 doctors offices can log on and enter patient billings and

such. All
data will be kept on his server and he would charge a monthly fee.

Has anyone done something like this?

Thanks
Marc
